Joseba’s super epic Dublin guide!
Dear Dublin-goers,
I’m a creature of habit. As one, I like to curate a small rotation of favorite places to frequent, and then proceed to be unbelievably annoying about how often I want to go there. This blog is all about those places. I might be biased, but if you’re looking for where to go in Dublin, this is probably a good place to start.
Breakfast (at 1pm):
Alma is a super charming, really tiny spot that you will have to call in advance if you dont want to wait outside the door for an hour. Everything they make is delicious, but the brekkie sambo could make a grown man cry. Bussin.
Honest to goodness is also a Sunday morning meetup spot. Its signature thing is a gargantual goliath of a cesar wrap, which was breakfast and lunch for some in the friend group. Also great coffee.
Two pups is the last of these spots I can recommend. It’s a little overrated in my opinion, but the friend group was keen so it ended up growing on me. It does more “out there” dishes like shakshuka and bhaji for breakfast, so it may be more for the adventuring type. Perchance.

Reconnect with nature:
Phoenix park is a spot I’ve recommended before, but I think it’s really special. It’s a perfect spot for a picnic, a run or a day out, with the added bonus of super friendly deer ALL around the park. Go there on your first sunny day in Dublin. Doctor’s orders.
St. Steven’s green is the low-commitment cousin of phoenix park. It’s much smaller and less cool (imo), but it’s right in the middle of the city. Maybe you want to eat your takeout on the grass or read a book somewhere nice. Maybe you want to domesticate a squirrel. St. Stevens green is probably less than 20 mins away from wherever you are.

Social spaces:
Board was probably my favorite-est place out of this entire list. It’s a super affordable board game cafe and bar, with great pizza and tons of stuff to choose from. I’ve been going since my first blog, and I’ll miss it now that I’m away. Collect some competitive friends and head over there! And invite me too just in case.
Wetherspoons is the staple student restaurant and pub for its crazy prices and constant discounts. Anyone from Dublin knows it, and anyone over 30 would probably be embarrassed to admit that they go there. Regardless, broke students like us stay winning.
O’regans pub is in the centre of Dublin, and is well-known for its many weekly events. Standup comedy and live jazz were our favorites and we went nearly every week. Completely free entry by the way.
Bar with no name is another pub, except it feels more like someone’s living room. With more couches than chairs, it’s a great spot to show up to make new friends or play a game of cards.

Nightlife:
Diceys. Go-to club (kind of a hot take but I stick by it). I love it for its multiple rooms and hundreds of people every weekend. When the DJ got it right that place was so much fun. Also shoutout to the reggeton basement.
Hogans is half pub/half club, which was kind of the best part about it. It made for a super low-commitment night out. You could just hang out in the pub if the vibe was low or head down to the basement if the troops were rallying. Win/win and no excuse for anyone in the groupchat.

And that ’s that. I’d love to hear if anyone actually goes throught this list, and what you thought of each spot. I hope you agree that this guide was super epic.
Shamalamadingdong,
Joseba
